George Kittle of the 49ers wears the famous Jimmy Garoppolo on his jersey after the win over the Seahawks

San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle seemed to have Jimmy Garoppolo on his mind when he helped the team to an NFC West title on Thursday night with a 21-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Kittle, after catching four passes for 93 yards with touchdowns, stepped into the Amazon postgame booth with Brock Purdy to meet Charissa Thompson, Tony Gonzalez, Andrew Whitworth, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Richard Sherman. While Purdy wore the jersey that defined the division, Kittle’s white jersey showed where his mind was.

“Feels great, honey,” Kittle’s T-shirt read.

He credited the appointment to Garoppolo, who is out for the season with a broken foot.

The famous Garoppolo joke returned in October 2019 after the 49ers’ Thursday night win over the Arizona Cardinals. FOX reporter Erin Andrews asked Garoppolo how he felt about maintaining his winning streak. The quarterback replied, “He feels great, baby. Happy Halloween.”

The seemingly innocuous comment prompted criticism of the quarterback on Twitter.

He told reporters later that he did not expect the comment to blow up.

“I say ‘baby’ like 500 times a game to my teammates and stuff. It wasn’t like that,” he added.

San Francisco feels even better now with a playoff berth and a division title locked up. San Francisco allowed just 13 points to the Seahawks on Thursday night. The team has not allowed 20 or more points since its loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. They’ve only done it twice this season.
