Making a name for themselves. An attempt to create a reality series took an unexpected turn when pretty wild became a deep dive in alexis neyers‘ involvement with the infamous Bling Ring.
In 2010, Neiers was arrested for her role in a series of burglaries that targeted the homes of various celebrities, including Lindsay Lohan, paris hilton, Orlando Bloom, audrina patridge Y Rachel Billson. The model, who was accused along with Rachel LeeNick PrugoCourtney Ames Y diana tamayo, was filming a show for E! at the time.
After getting footage from the pilot, the network originally intended to focus on the lives of the Alexis sisters, gabrielle neiersand tess taylor while trying to make it in Hollywood. However, amidst Alexis’s legal troubles, the premise pivoted to explore her connection to the robberies that resulted in the theft of approximately $3 million in cash and belongings.
The series, which aired nine episodes in 2010, did not return for a second season after Alexis pleaded no contest to the robbery charge and was sentenced to six months in Los Angeles County Jail.
Nearly a decade after the show came to an end, the stars reunited on Alexis’ “Recovering From Reality” podcast. During the 2019 episode, Alexis, Gabrielle, and Taylor discussed their respective personal journeys from pretty wild.
“I’m proud of how far we’ve all come and I think it’s important to see how we’ve all recovered,” Alexis said exclusively. us weekly at the time about the inspiration behind the meeting.
Gabrielle, for her part, added: “My wish is to bring hope to people who feel that their story is over.”
Her former co-star and close friend, Taylor, gushed about major life changes that have brought her to a better place. “I loved that people knew that deep, dark recovery of black holes is possible,” she shared. “We are living proof.”
The trio later experienced a break in their friendship when Alexis and Gabrielle participated in Netflix. The Real Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist. In September 2022, Alexis praised the three-part series for allowing her to share her side of the story.
“I think the docuseries is great because in media reporting until very recently there wasn’t really a space for the nuance and complexity of what happened in the crime,” he told entertainment weekly at the time. “The story became sensational and there was no room to talk about addictions and mental health. We still have a long way to go, but we are much further away than we were in 2010.”
Meanwhile, Taylor wasn’t thrilled to be brought up when she opted not to contribute to the document. “Netflix, she calls you Tess,” she posted via Instagram that same month. “I’m calling to let you know how disappointed I am in the shitty documentary that I asked not to be a part of, but somehow I really am a part of.”
In a lengthy social media post, Taylor called The real jewel ring for talking about his friendship with Prugo and his alleged knowledge of the robberies.
“Guys… I’m really not happy with how much I appear in this. As someone who was asked to be involved and was DENIED that opportunity, I feel like I am too unintentionally involved in this project. We all know they got big checks for this,” he continued. “I, as always, do nothing hahaha. And it’s not just about the money. But COME ON… If they planned to use me that much, I should be compensated. Am I wrong for feeling this way???? I’m a bit heated writing this, so maybe I’m wrong. But I don’t feel bad.”
